Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has opened up about his run-in with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), revealing that his troubles started after accepting the Best Dressed Female award at the movie premiere of Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao.
Bobrisky, who has recently faced backlash over claims he paid for special treatment during his time in prison, addressed the allegations of bribery that surfaced after viral audio suggested he had paid Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officials for preferential conditions while serving a jail sentence for naira abuse.
His arrest by the EFCC occurred at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos State, as he tried to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam. Following the arrest, Bobrisky shared a distressing update with his followers, claiming that he had been injured during the process. “Nigerians, help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote.
Bobrisky was later transported to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was questioned over accusations of bribing EFCC officers to dismiss previous money laundering charges.
In a post on his Instagram, Bobrisky explained his reluctance to accept awards traditionally given to women. He stated, “My problem started from when I collected the best dressed female award with a N1 million prize.
For my life, if I see an award for best dressed female, I’d disappear from that location. Everyone knows the truth that I am a baddie with class. You wanna compete with me? Your mummy never. But when the problem gets too much, I run.”
