EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to military officials, the quake led to the collapse of several buildings, including structures hundreds of miles away in Thailand. In Myanmar’s capital, at least three deaths were confirmed, while rescue operations are underway for 81 people trapped beneath the rubble of an under-construction high-rise building.
The disaster comes at a time when Myanmar, already struggling with instability following a military coup in 2021, faces challenges in disaster response due to its fragile infrastructure.

Large parts of the country are controlled by armed militias, further complicating rescue and relief efforts. Additionally, disruptions in communication caused by military actions have made it difficult to obtain accurate information from affected areas.
Authorities are continuing emergency response efforts, with more updates expected soon.
