The PDP chieftains, in different statements, claimed that they received the notification of the payment from their bank accounts without any description or purpose.
The NWC members that returned the money to the party include, the National Vice Chairman (South-West), Olasoji Adagunodo, the Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja; National Vice Chairman (South), Dan Orbih and National Women Leader, Stella Affah-Attoe.
However, the PDP denied reports that the amounts returned by six members of the NWC members were paid as bribes, stating that funds were for their housing allowance.
Reacting to the development in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Saturday, Fani-Kayode berated the PDP leadership for sharing money amongst themselves like “Father Christmas”.
He, however, advised PDP NWC members who received monies in their accounts to immediately return such funds to the party coffers, adding that a criminal inquiry into the matter has begun.
He wrote: “Never have we seen party officials sharing money amongst one another like Father Christmas as the leadership of the PDP has just done.
