Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti state, request to travel out of the country for medical treatment has been granted by jugde C.J. Aneke of the federal high court in Lagos
The decision to grant the governor’s request is sequel to an application filed by Ola Olanipekun, Fayose’s counsel, on Friday.
The former governor is being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N2.2 billion fraud.
The latest permission for medical treatment abroad is the third that would be granted to Fayose in 17 months.
He was earlier granted medical-trip permits in July and in December 2019.
During his last trip, Fayose’s action sparked controversy after he was seen dancing salsa and posing for pictures at a relaxation spot when he was supposed to be receiving medical care.

He reacted to the controversy by saying he was on ”medical check-up, not admission”.
The recent application was not opposed by Rotimi Jacobs, prosecuting counsel of the EFCC.
The judge adjourned further hearing in the case till January 22, 2021.
