A 43-year-old man, Abioye Oluwaseun, has been apprehended and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defrauding Jegede Kehinde of N9 million.

The incident took place on March 12, 2024, at the Scheme 1 Estate in Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos. According to police reports, Oluwaseun collected the funds under the guise of securing a Canadian visa for Kehinde.

However, after receiving payment, Oluwaseun disappeared, cutting off all communication with Kehinde and failing to deliver the promised visa.

The case was reported to the Abbatior Police Division, prompting the officers to take action. They successfully arrested Oluwaseun and detained him for questioning.

During the interrogation, Oluwaseun admitted to collecting the money but stated that he had spent it and had no means to refund Kehinde, as he had not acquired a visa for her.

Finding the suspect culpable, the police charged Oluwaseun at the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged fraud.

Following Abioye Oluwaseun’s plea of not guilty, prosecutor Inspector John Iberedem requested the Court to set a hearing date. This would allow the Police to present evidence supporting the alleged fraud charges against Oluwaseun.
