A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crashed early Monday morning in Tami village, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that eyewitnesses said the crash occurred around 5:00 am, causing alarm among the residents.
The helicopter, on a routine operational flight, encountered technical difficulties leading to the crash. The pilot successfully executed emergency protocols, ensuring his survival and emerging from the wreckage largely unscathed.
Residents quickly gathered at the crash site to offer assistance and expressed relief that no lives were lost. A local villager said, “We heard a loud noise and rushed to the scene. We were surprised and relieved to see the pilot alive.”
A team of military officers from the Nigerian Air Force swiftly arrived to secure the area and conduct an initial investigation. They cordoned off the site to prevent unauthorized access and ensure villagers’ safety.
Preliminary assessments to determine the cause of the crash are ongoing, and as of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Air Force has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
An investigation is expected to be launched to ascertain the factors leading to the crash.
