NAFDAC Boss Highlights Importance of Buying Goods From Sellers That Can be Tracked
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a valuable piece of advice for Nigerian consumers: always purchase goods from sellers who provide a receipt.
Eko Hot Blog reports that NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, emphasized the importance of this practice during a forum held in Abuja. By obtaining a receipt, buyers can easily trace the location of the seller should the purchased goods turn out to be defective.

She added, “If receipt is not given for goods purchased, do not buy, because you may fall victim when such goods are defective or substandard. But with the receipt in your hand, you can quickly return it and get a refund.”
Adeyeye underscored the importance of Nigerians ensuring that goods have a NAFDAC registration number prior to making a purchase.
Emphasizing the necessity of cautious consumer behavior, the NAFDAC boss encouraged Nigerians to pay close attention to key details such as the date of manufacture, expiry date, and condition of packaging before finalizing any transaction.

She said, “Ensure that goods you buy have NAFDAC numbers on them, check carefully, if the goods do not look good, please don’t buy. Do also watch out for the date of expiry; don’t buy it because it is cheap.”
She also advised Nigerians to cook their foods well, especially grains, to kill the germs that might be found in them.
Eko Hot Blog reports that earlier in the year NAFDAC had emphasised the need for efficient and seamless port clearance procedures to achieve best practices within the industry.
