NAFDAC Destroys Fake, Expired Products Worth Billions in Ibadan

NAFDAC, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, destroyed ₦10.99 billion worth of expired, fake, and unregistered products in Ibadan, Oyo state.

The items, collected from five South West states and Kwara, were destroyed at the Akinyele Dumpsite. NAFDAC DG, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, was represented by Mrs. Roseline O. Ajayi.

The destruction was observed by Dr. Akin Fagbemi, NSCDC, NDLEA, and others. NAFDAC emphasized that the exercise ensures confiscated items are not diverted and are properly destroyed to prevent environmental pollution.

The DG urged Nigerians to help keep the country safe from substandard, fake, and counterfeit products, encouraging everyone to be an ambassador of NAFDAC in efforts to clean up the food and drug sector.
