Naira Marley Under Fire Over New Song, ‘Soapy’
It was a song that put the spotlight on him, landing him in trouble in recent times yet Naira Marley would be hoping there is no repeat of that this time around.
The “Japa” singer has been called out by popular Nigerian dancer, Kaffy, over the dance form attached with his new song, “Soapy” which the Guiness World Record holder has termed both immoral and disgusting.
Naira Marley, whose real name is Afeez Fashola, spent 35 days behind bars after EFCC operatives arrested and charged hin for internet fraud. Upon his release on bail, he dropped a song titled, ‘Soapy’ accompanied with dance steps imitating the act of masturbation, with the song and dance videos stirring reactions online.
Reacting to the viral dance videos on Tuesday, Kaffy wrote: “I am sorry but I can’t take this. In the history of Naija dance, I have never seen a more disgusting, immoral dance like the so-called Soapy.
“It should never be encouraged. I am really disappointed. As dancers, we should speak for what is right. We shouldn’t encourage this for the sake of a trend, especially when it is not even censored from kids.
“To an adult, it is even offensive. Rubbish!”
