EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Media and Publicity for All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has said President Muhammadu Buhari should immediately sack Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The APC presidential candidate’s media aide was reacting to the CBN’s admission that it did not anticipate the challenges being experienced by the Naira swap.
Onanuga, who had earlier described Emefiele as “a public enemy” also lambasted the CBN chief for “gross incompetence”.
“In my opinion, Buhari should sack this Emefiele now for gross incompetence,” Onanuga wrote on his known Twitter handle on Thursday night.
Emefiele is a Nigerian banker who has been serving as the CBN Governor since 4 June 2014, during the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
The 61-year-old is the first CBN governor to serve a second term since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
