According to the charges, Omoseyin allegedly tampered with the sum of N100,000 issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on January 28, 2023, while dancing during a social occasion at the Monarch event center in Lekki, Lagos.
The actress was said to have sprayed the Naira notes during the party, which was captured in a video that went viral on social media.
The charges against her were read to her in court, and she pleaded not guilty. The prosecution counsel, S.I Sulaiman, asked for a trial date from the court and prayed that the defendant be remanded in prison custody, which the court granted.
The counsel to the defendant, Goncalves Adenike, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail till the hearing of the case, urging that she be remanded in EFCC custody till the perfection of her bail terms.
The judge deferred the ruling on the bail application to Wednesday, February 15, 2023, and remanded the defendant in prison. The actress will remain in custody till the determination of her bail application before the court.
Omoseyin was initially arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on February 1, 2023, after the video of her spraying and stepping on the new Naira notes at a party went viral on social media. She was later handed over to the EFCC for further investigation.

The act of spraying money at social events is common in Nigeria, especially at weddings, birthdays, and other ceremonies. However, the CBN Act of 2007 prohibits the willful defacing or destruction of Naira notes, and anyone found guilty of the offense could face imprisonment.
