NAPTIP Rescues 85 Victims, Apprehends 81 Suspected Human Traffickers

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) arrested 81 human trafficking suspects and saved over 85 victims in Anambra State in 2022.

Eko Hot Blog reports that state commander Mrs. Ibadin Judith-chukwu revealed this during a courtesy visit to the governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo.

She was grateful that the state executive council just approved the State Task Force’s Action Plan on Human Trafficking.

She pleaded for the establishment of a secure sanctuary for the state’s victims of human trafficking.

Responding, Mrs Soludo appreciated NAPTIP for the visit, describing trafficking in persons as “a cancer” which had cut deep into society and needed to be rooted out.

She called for greater collaboration between the Federal and State Governments as well as relevant stakeholders to ensure a successful fight against the scourge in the society.
