The publisher of Eko Hot Blog, Otunba TJ Abass has congratulated Hon Tajudeen Abass on his emergence as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The media entrepreneur, who spoke in a statement on Tuesday, described Abass as the right candidate to lead the 10th NASS to a new era of legislative distinction.
He described the new speaker as a crony whose stellar leadership qualities would help him steer the national assembly towards functional legislative activities that would hoist the country to higher heights.
He said, “I have the distinct privilege of sailing the same ship with the Speaker. We call this ship “friendship.” Sharing his first name and last name, however, stands taller than a privilege for me; it is the craftsmanship of destiny weaving our unique identities into collectiveness. Two individuals, set out on separate paths, bonded with the cord of love have answered to the name Tajudeen Abass for ages.
“I share the same vision with the speaker, the vision for a better Nigeria, the same vision shared by Hon Wale Raji that has metamorphosed into unbroken chain of development in the Epe Federal constituency, and the vision of renewed hope for Nigeria. The future of Nigeria is now. Congratulations to a brother and friend, Speaker TJ Abass.”
Speaking further, he enjoined Abass to always remember that the mandate of speakership makes him not only a representative of a constituency, but a representative of all Nigerians.
He recalled that the Member Representing Epe Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Wale Raji, who had served side by side with the new speaker during the 9th National Assembly joined hundreds of other lawmakers to vote for Abass based on his work ethic and proven track record as a reliable leader.
He noted that the country was going through a critical phase of transformation and transition, and therefore requires the A Game of its key government functionaries to reap the gains of this transformation.
Tajudeen Abbas, the lawmaker representing Zaria constituency of Kaduna, was elected speaker of the house of representatives earlier today. Abbas defeated Idris Wase and Sani Jaji by a landslide to win the election on Tuesday.
He polled 353 votes, Wase got 3 votes, while Jaji also scored 3 votes.
Abbas, 59, was first elected to the house of representatives in 2011 on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
He is a prince from the Zazzau emirate and holds the traditional title of Iyan Zazzau.
Abbas was a primary school teacher, a polytechnic and university lecturer before his foray into politics in 2010.
He holds a masters degree and a PhD in business administration.
