Eko Hot Blog reports that Mr. Olugbile Holloway is the new Director-General of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM).
He assumes the role after President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment.
The president’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, disclosed the development in a statement on Thursday.
According to Ngelale, Tinubu has charged the new boss at the National Commission for Museums to bring life into the agency.
“The President expects that the new Director-General will bring life into this important agency and ensure the preservation, promotion, and development of Nigeria’s diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritage,” he stated.
Until his appointment, Mr. Holloway was the Managing Director of Evoke Communications Limited, a creative brand/consultancy agency.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Relations and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
The NCMM was created in the 1940s with the responsibility of managing all National Museums and Monuments in Nigeria, including ancient artefacts, traditional architecture, and historical sites.
The commission’s main aim is to preserve and promote the diverse tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Nigeria for generations to come.
The National Commission for Museums is involved in Exhibition, Research, Education, and Community Engagement programs aimed at creating awareness and appreciation of Nigeria’s rich history and cultural heritage.
The commission also conducts archaeological excavations and surveys in various parts of the country, creating opportunities for further research and development in the field of cultural heritage management.
