National power grid collapse causes widespread electricity outage in Nigeria.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the national power grid suffered another collapse today, plunging households and businesses into darkness across the country. At precisely 3:09 pm, the entire system went offline, causing widespread disruptions in electricity supply.
Local electricity distribution companies swiftly began notifying their customers about the outage.
The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company expressed their regret in a statement, addressing their valued customers directly: ‘We regret to inform you that a general system collapse occurred at 15:09 hours this afternoon, July 6, 2024.
This unfortunate event has led to a complete loss of electricity supply throughout our network. As a consequence, all our TCN interface stations are currently unable to distribute power, impacting our services to customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.’
This sudden outage comes as a significant inconvenience to many residents and businesses, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the nation’s power infrastructure. Restoration efforts are underway, with teams working diligently to resolve the issue and restore normal service as soon as possible. In the meantime, affected customers are urged to conserve energy and stay updated through official channels provided by their respective distribution companies.”
The Kaduna Electricity company on its own part, wrote on its X handle: ” Dear Esteemed Customers. We regret to inform you that the power outage being experienced in our franchise states is due to system collapse of the national grid”.
