National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN) Epe Branch Embarks On Sanitation Exercise In Epe
The National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe branch has embarked on a cleaning exercise to celebrate Nigeria’s 59th Independence.
The sanitation exercise which took at the Luwo market at Afuye in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos state was in conjunction with the African Clean Up Initiative(ACI).
The cleaning exercise was part of the NYCN plans to consolidate government effort at ensuring a cleaner environment for all, took place on Saturday.
The group disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Comrade. Shittu Mustapha.
The Coordinator of Youth Council, Comrade, Ladele Ismail in this address noted that the exercise was aimed at promoting national environmental sensitization and re-orientation, as well as corporate sanitation for healthy living among Lagosians.
Ismail said “the agenda of the youth council is to consolidate the effort of the government on environmental related issues and to promote national environmental sensitization and re-orientation, and corporate sanitation for healthy living and environmental sustainability as well as to compel Nigerians to take personal responsibility towards their environments.”
The coordinator also revealed that the exercise was the first phase of the group’s initiative to promote clean environment as more place would be visited in subsequent time.
He said “the Oluwo Market cleaning is actually the first phase of our clean up initiatives, we assured you that this would be replicated in other areas of the Local Government in later times.”
Comrade Ismail however called on well meaning youths of Epe to cue behind such initiative as it would go a long way in making Epe environs a more habitable abode for all its residents.
Meanwhile, the The Executives of the Oluwo Market present at the sanitation exercise has applauded the group for such initiative. Adding that, the initiative would not only bring about healthy living in the community but would also foster a good relationship between the youth council and the traders.
The statement reads in part “The Executives of the Oluwo Market present at the exercise appreciates the gesture of National Youth council Epe Branch and commended it to be good initiative that will not only bring about healthy living in our society but as well foster the relationship between the youth council and Market Men and Women of Oluwo Market.”
