National Youth Games: LSSC, Parallex Bank Reward Outstanding Youth Athletes

Four talented athletes have been awarded ₦1 million each by the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) in partnership with Parallex Bank in recognition of their remarkable achievements at the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Emmanuel Bright (Tennis), Akanbi Demilade (Swimming), Kanu Chioma (Swimming), and Akinwuwo Oladeji (Deaf Athletics) were honored for their exceptional performances, contributing to Lagos State’s success at the 8th edition of the national championship.

Speaking at the ceremony at the Parallex Bank headquarters in Victoria Island, LSSC Director-General Lekan Fatodu emphasized the importance of the initiative in promoting human capacity development.
“We see this as the intersection of education and sports,” he said. “Lagos is not just providing platforms for these athletes to compete nationally, but we’re also leveraging private sector partnerships that align with our vision for talent discovery and development.”
Fatodu emphasised that youth talent identification and structured development programmes are central to the state’s sports strategy.
He expressed confidence that strategic partnerships like the one with Parallex Bank will accelerate the realisation of these goals.
“We want to be recognised as people deeply committed to sports development and talent identification. We have created a generation of champions who can compete at any level,” Fatodu declared.
He emphasized the role sports can play in diverting young individuals from crime and other detrimental influences and also underlined the far-reaching positive effects of sports participation.
Parallex Bank’s Managing Director, Dr. Femi Bakre, commended the LSSC for its progressive leadership and reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to promoting athlete development through this collaborative effort.
