According to reports, the man who is an Indigene of Umuona in the Aguata Local Government Area of the State was in a relationship with the victim who is a single mother of two.

The victim who shared the dire ordeal after leaving the hospital explained that the man had earlier promised to marry her and sent a motorcyclist to fetch her and the children.

Upon their arrival, he slit her throat and attempted to bury her and the children in an already-dug grave in his backyard.

According to her, “On that fateful day, the suspect sent a bike man to bring me and the kids to his house. He didn’t allow us to go home that day because it was already late. He later told me that he has a surprise for me, and he used a white handkerchief to blindfold me.”

She said it was at that point that she struggled to know what was happening, but unfortunately, it was late as the suspect had already brought a knife and started slitting her throat.

Speaking further, she explained that she began to struggle for her life but unfortunately she was overpowered and dragged to an already waiting grave in the suspect’s backyard.

The single mother disclosed that she began to shout after the suspect who threw a big stone over her head went to bring a shovel to cover her.

The sound of her voice woke the suspect’s sister up who subsequently came to her rescue after alerting other members of the public.

The native doctor was later captured but by then the bike man who was his accomplice had escaped.

The State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, solicited for the victim and her two children through her S£xual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) response team, and the victim was later arraigned.
