  • The Nigerian Navy is set to relocate its Bases in Lagos to other states.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Nigerian Navy has planned to relocate some of its Bases in Lagos State to other states.

A source in the Nigerian Navy, who made the disclosure on Sunday, said the decision was taken to decongest the presence of the Navy in Lagos and other maritime environments.

The source further disclosed that the plans were at an advanced stage to relocate the School of Communication and Information Technology and PT School from Lagos to Ife, Osun State, adding that the Command Naval Drafting has been relocated to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

The source noted that the Navy Board recently approved the establishment of three new naval Bases in Lekki, Oguta, and Kano.

The source, however, added that the new Base in Kano was greeted by criticism.

The source revealed, “All naval establishments and units are called bases notwithstanding their physical location. Depending on their responsibilities, naval bases could be for operations, training, logistics, or administration.

“The base in Kano is intended to be home of the newly created Nigerian Navy Logistics College.
