The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commended the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB) for establishing the Lagos Energy Academy.
Eko Hot Blog reliably gathered that the NBTE posit that this initiative will contribute to the creation of more employment opportunities within the energy sector.
During a courtesy visit to the LSEB’s Old Works Yard facility in Ikeja, the NBTE’s Deputy Director of the South West Zonal Office, Dr. John Onyebuchi, emphasized the importance of skill acquisition and formal certification in empowering individuals and addressing unemployment.
He explained that registering with NBTE would elevate the Lagos Energy Academy (LEA), ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for both local and international career opportunities.
In his remarks, the General Manager, LSEB, Engr. K.A.T. Balogun noted that the academy aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which aims to transform Lagos into a 21st-century economy.
“Our goal is to equip participants with globally competitive skills, making them employable not only in Lagos but internationally,” he added.
Dr. Onyebuchi further highlighted the significance of skill acquisition in reducing unemployment, praising Lagos State’s efforts to create job opportunities for its residents regardless of their educational background.
Following the discussion, Engr. Balogun led a tour of the Lagos Energy Academy’s facilities.
The Academy, an integral part of the LSEB, focuses on training and developing skilled professionals in the energy sector.
The NBTE’s visit marks a crucial step in formalizing the academy’s programs and enhancing its impact on youth empowerment and job creation in Lagos State.
