The NCC has introduced new guidelines limiting telecom operators to seven tariff plans and 100 bundles to enhance transparency and consumer understanding.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has introduced new tariff guidelines for telecom operators to enhance transparency, improve consumer understanding, and foster fair competition.
The NCC now limits each telecom operator to a maximum of seven tariff plans and 100 bundles, ensuring subscribers can only be on one tariff plan at a time.
The directive mandates operators to inform subscribers about the number of add-ons at the point of purchase and to provide mechanisms for checking these add-ons.
The changes, effective from July 29, aim to simplify tariffs, improve service quality, and promote consumer education. Operators must align their offerings within 90 days and submit transition plans by August 12, 2024. Non-compliance will result in penalties.
