The latest figures by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has shown that Nigeria has recorded a total of 88,587 cases of COVID-19 infections.
In its latest case update dated January 1, the NCDC reports 1,074 new infections and 5 COVID-19-related deaths.
The new infections were recorded in 15 states — Lagos (624), Kaduna (92), Rivers (78), FCT (66), Gombe (66), Kano (35), Ogun (31), Katsina (22), Plateau (20), Abia (7), Niger (4), Oyo (4), Akwa Ibom (3), Delta (2) and Osun (2).
