NCDMB And ICPC Partner To Combat Corruption In Public Procurement
Eko Hot Blog reports that The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have partnered to combat corruption in public procurement. The two agencies recently held a two-day sensitization workshop on anti-graft in contracting and public procurement for NCDMB staff in Abuja.
The workshop, which was focused on “Anti-Corruption Requirements and Best Practices in Public Procurement,” was delivered by the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Simbi Wabote. Wabote explained that the workshop would equip participants with the best anti-corruption practices and procedures. He noted that some of the errors committed by public servants were not deliberate but due to a lack of understanding of the procurement best practices.
Wabote said that the partnership with ICPC and the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) would ensure that ministries, departments, and agencies are well equipped and up to date with the anti-corruption best practices. He urged participants to learn and implement the laid down processes to manage corrupt practices and conflicts of interest.
Wabote also mentioned that the NCDMB had established a corruption desk in-house, as suggested by ACAN, to ensure a high level of transparency and accountability across operations.
