Former acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joy Nunieh, is appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC at the ongoing investigative hearing as a witness on the alleged illegal expenditure and mismanagement by the commission.
Recall that the investigation of the NDDC got rough on Thursday, 16 July 2020 as the police invaded Nunieh’s residence in Port Harcourt.
The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who came to the rescue of Nunieh from police taking her away, had also called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to investigate the invasion of the former NDDC boss.
There were rumours that the invasion was aim at preventing Nunieh from moving from Port Harcourt to Abuja to appear before the panel.
Ekohotblog also reported on Thursday that top officials of the NDDC, who appeared before the committee walked out of the venue of the sitting after insisting that the panel Chairman, Mr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, must step down.
