– House of Representatives are investigating the alleged illegal spending and mismanagement by the management committee of NDDC

The National Assembly Complex is now under heavy security guard as protesters clashed over the ongoing probe of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

Ekohotblog had earlier reported that there was intense security beef up at the venue of the ongoing investigative hearing into alleged financial malfeasance at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

It also reported that it was uncertain as to why the policemen were positioned at the venue.

But the clash between the two protesters is a pointer to why there was security beef up at the venue of the investigative hearing earlier.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are investigating the alleged illegal spending and mismanagement by the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC under the supervision of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

While the group supporting the National Assembly probe is Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria, the group backing the NDDC and Akpabio against the probe is Niger Delta Development Initiative.

It was gathered that security operatives had to separate the two groups.
