EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to an internal memorandum signed by the university’s Registrar, G. O. Salisu, department heads have been directed to allow students with approved loans to participate in the ongoing first-semester examinations, despite the pending funds.
The memo stated: “The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has provided a list of 3,283 students whose loan applications have been approved.
Although the funds have not yet been received by the university, the list has been sent to the departments, and all Heads of Departments have been instructed to allow these students to sit for the 2023/2024 first-semester examinations. This directive is for strict compliance by staff and students.”
This development follows a recent student protest at the University of Ibadan over a hike in tuition fees.

The university had advised students to complete registration and payment processes before September 4, 2024, in preparation for the exams.
