NerdzFactory Foundation, in collaboration with Access Bank, has completed the fifth edition of the Youth Transition Programme (YTP), benefiting over 518 young Nigerians.
The two-week virtual programme focused on building employability and digital skills to help participants compete in the job market and explore new economic opportunities.
The YTP was created to tackle Nigeria’s high unemployment rates by teaching participants practical skills like job hunting, digital marketing, and using online platforms for business and personal growth. The programme included webinars and virtual workshops on key workplace skills such as writing effective CVs, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, and mastering digital tools for work.
This initiative aligns with global goals, particularly the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for quality education (Goal 4) and decent work and economic growth (Goal 8).
Ade Olowojoba, Director of NerdzFactory Foundation, highlighted the importance of the programme, stating: “The Youth Transition Programme equips young Nigerians with vital skills for the fast-changing digital economy. We are proud to nurture a generation of innovative and self-reliant leaders.”
The programme achieved significant success, with participants reporting improved confidence, better digital skills, and readiness to either secure jobs or start their own businesses. Despite challenges like internet access and data costs, the initiative proved its effectiveness in transforming young lives through targeted training.
Both NerdzFactory Foundation and Access Bank expressed their commitment to expanding the programme, aiming to empower more Nigerian youths with the knowledge and tools to build sustainable careers and drive economic growth.
