“Our responsible efforts are bearing fruit,” Netanyahu said, adding that close to half a million people have been evacuated from combat zones.
Despite international warnings, including from the US, Israel launched a ground offensive in Rafah, where 1.4 million people sought shelter.
Netanyahu insisted that a humanitarian catastrophe did not materialize and won’t.
The UN reported that nearly 450,000 people were displaced from Rafah since Israel issued evacuation orders, and another 100,000 fled their homes in northern Gaza.
However, he emphasized that Israeli forces are fighting throughout Gaza while evacuating civilians and meeting their humanitarian needs.
Netanyahu doubled down on his determination to destroy Hamas, which sparked the ongoing war with its October 7 attack that killed over 1,170 people.
Additionally, he stressed that eliminating Hamas is necessary to ensure no element in Gaza threatens Israel.
Israel’s bombardment and ground offensive killed at least 35,233 people, mostly civilians, according to the Gaza health ministry.
Netanyahu dismissed discussions about who rules Gaza after the war as “empty talk” until Hamas is defeated.
