Netflix Launches Free Plan For Faster Growth Rates

Netflix set to roll-out a free plan for users in Kenya over the next few weeks.

EkoHotBlog learnt that the free Netflix plan, which will be rolled out to all in Kenya in the coming weeks, won’t require them to provide any payment information during the sign-up

The free Netflix services will be available exclusively for any user aged 18 or above on Android phones and will feature a more limited selection of content than what subscribers have access to. although they cannot download content onto phones or cast content onto TVs.

Kenyan users only need an email address and password to gain access to the limited service. Though there are no immediate plans to extend the free service to other territories, Netflix aims to use the model to gain insight into how effective it is in gaining new paying subscribers who wish to access the full abilities of the platform.

Netflix Launches Free Plan For Faster Growth Rates

Netflix, available in over 190 countries, has experimented with a range of plans in recent years to lure customers in developing markets. For instance, it began testing a $3 mobile-only plan in India in 2018  before expanding it to users in several other countries.

Netflix, which has amassed over 209 million subscribers, as well as Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services are increasingly trying to win customers outside of the U.S. to maintain faster growth rates.
