The indefatigable new Alara of Ilara, Oba Ogunsanwo Folarin on Wednesday added another feather to his cap as he bagged a doctorate degree award.

You recall that EkoHotBlog had reported how the newly installed king observed the 3-day ceremonial, cultural and traditional rites that preceded the enthronement of a new king which was followed by the presentation of staff of office by governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The presentation of staff of office is an integral part of the coronation that signifies government imprimatur — after the performance of essential traditional rites by kingmakers — of the new King ascension to the throne, without which enthronement of a king cannot be said to be complete

Oba Ogunsanwo, who’s known to be a compassionate and selfless leader, on many occasions, has exhibited his altruistic disposition, passion for community and humanitarian service which were exemplified in the height of the novel coronavirus that saw the government locked down the state.

He provides a shoulder for downtrodden to lean on and serve as a beacon of hope for all and sundry in the Alara kingdom.

It’s In recognition of his leadership prowess, advancement of humanity cause and service to the community that European-American University decided to confer on him a honorary Doctor of Arts Degree in Public Leadership, Peace and Community Development by European-American University.

The conferment ceremony, which was expected to have been held long before now, suffered delay due to the lockdown which was occassioned by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the virtual ceremony held via zoom was extensively covered by Ovation Media Production, was graced by dignitaries and top traditional chiefs.

Speaking to EkoHotBlog after the conferment of the honourary award, Oba Ogunsanwo highlighted the need to focus on community development which will bring governance and growth closer to the people and lift the downtrodden out of poverty, he noted that grass root development and giving hope to the hopeless remain an integral part of his reign.

He implored notable sons and daughters of Alara to join him in his journey to rebuild and facilitate development in the town.

He, however, appealed to Lagos state government to not only complete government projects in the town but also include the town in the development plan of the state.

He expressed gratitude to the European-American University for the honourary award.

One of the Monarchs who attended the conferment ceremony, noted that that Oba Ogunsanwo fully deserved the award as he’s shown time and time again that he’s man of the people.

The monarch added that the new Alara of Ilara is not only bringing his charismatic and cerebral disposition to the throne, but, also accompanying his enthronement, are his wealth of knowledge and sterling reputation from the public and private sector, which would be vital in heralding a fresh wave of development for the Ilara enclave and plethora of prospects for its people, especially the youths.

The ascension of oba Ogunsanwo to the throne is expected to herald a new season of economic prosperity and social re-engineering Ilara town. He’s expected to use his wealth of knowledge and experience to hasten development in the town.
