The murder happened around 6:45 a.m. near Times Square and Central Park. The victim, who was scheduled to speak at an investor conference, was ambushed outside the Hilton Hotel. Police believe the attack was pre-planned.

The suspect, wearing a black face mask and a cream-colored jacket, waited outside the hotel for about five minutes before the victim arrived on foot. The suspect shot the executive in the back and leg. Despite efforts to save him, the victim died about 30 minutes later at a hospital.

Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed that the gun jammed during the attack, but the suspect managed to fix it and continue shooting. Security footage shows the weapon had a silencer, and police believe it was a rare BT Station Six 9 pistol, linked to World War II-era special forces.

After the attack, the gunman fled on foot. While initial reports suggested he used a Citi Bike, Lyft, which operates Citi Bike, confirmed that was not the case.

Police are using several tools in the investigation, including facial recognition technology and cryptic messages found on bullet casings at the scene. They are also visiting gun stores in Connecticut to trace the origin of the weapon.

The motive for the killing remains unclear, but police believe the victim was specifically targeted. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.

This is a developing story and will be updated going forward.
