No fewer than two vehicles and buildings’ fences were destroyed following a rainstorm that uprooted trees in the aftermath of Sunday’s early morning rainfall in Lagos State.
The incident happened in Muri Okunola Street, Victoria Island area of Lagos State. As gathered, no casualty was recorded when the uprooted trees destroyed the vehicles.
The trees broke through the iron fence of one of the compounds and crushed cars parked on the other side of the fence.
Confirming the incident after sharing pictures with our correspondent, a resident in the area said nobody was injured during the incident.
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that works on both the Blue and Red line rails are at 90 percent completion.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, on Sunday.
The statement read, “Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reassured the residents that the state government is on track with its efforts to complete works on both the Blue and Red lines rail projects, which are intra-city, to strengthen the intermodal transport system.
“He said work on the Blue Line rail project was at 90 percent completion as contractors were working seven days a week so that Lagosians would ride a train on the rail by the first quarter of 2023.
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has described the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, as an encyclopedia of Yoruba’s traditional history, who had a solution to every problem.
This is as he said the late Alaafin was one of those who told him he would lose the 2015 Oyo State governorship election.
The governor stated this on Sunday, during his condolence visit to the family of the late monarch at the Aafin (Palace), Oyo, noting that though Oba Adeyemi lived long and reigned for 52 years, it was still painful that he had to go at this time.
Governor Makinde added that the late monarch lived a life that had great impact on humanity, adding that the late Kabiyesi’s impact transcended the shores of Oyo State to all parts of the federation.
Chief Mrs. Christiana Njideka Ezeife, wife of the first Civilian Governor of Anambra State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife (Okwadike Igbo Ukwu) is dead.
Disclosing her death in a statement on his Facebook page, the governor of Anambra state, Prof Charles Soludo said:
“The loss of a loved one comes with a lot of emotional setbacks, especially one you have shared a huge part of your life with.

Ondo State Police Command, on Sunday, said that it was not responsible for the d3ath of three indigenes of Kajola in Odogbo Local Government Area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victims, including a village head, were reportedly crushed to dath on Saturday evening by a hit-and-run driver on their motorcycle at Kajola area on Lagos-Ore expressway.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Funmilayo Odunlami, in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the victims’ d3ath was due to police recklessness but owing to flouting of traffic rules.
She said that the deceased used a motorcycle without headlamp, adding that they were riding on a one-way route, thus leading to a head on collision with a speeding vehicle.
A Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has dissociated himself from the announcement of Governor Bala Mohammad and Senator Bukola Saraki as the preferred Northern consensus candidates for the PDP by the Prof. Ango Abdullahi-led committee.
In a statement by the Director-General, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Campaign Organization Senator Isa Galaudu, the politician said he could not reach an accord with Saraki, Bala Mohammed and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal before they parted ways on the issue.
“For the record, it must be stated that the four candidates seeking a consensus had agreed that the process had collapsed prior to this announcement. The candidates could not reach a compromise resulting in the decision of our principal, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, and Governor Aminu Tambuwal to discontinue the process.
“The purpose of the meeting yesterday (Saturday) was for candidates who participated in the consensus process to express their gratitude to the Northern Elders for their efforts in seeking a consensus.
Youths suspected to be thugs went on rampage on Sunday in Offa, Offa local government area of Kwara state.

In its efforts to rebrand and reposition its Lagos State council, the national headquarters of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has set up a 9-man committee to run the affairs of the Lagos branch of the union for three months.
Recall that the State Administrative Council (SAC) of the union was dissolved recently by the national body.
The national headquarters, in a statement jointly signed by the General Secretary, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Ya’u and the president, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, said the need to set up the committee was borne out of the need to prevent the vacuum created by the dissolution of the SAC.
The term of references of the committee includes “one , to take over the administration of the state Secretariat. Two, to invite the state chairman, Treasurer and any other SAC members in possession of union funds and property so that they can hand over same to the committee. Three, to take control of all the saleable items of the union. Four, to liaise with the state local government and other law enforcement agencies to ensure harmony and understanding. Five,to bring back the union’s lost glory and sanitize the union’s operation bastardized by the former state exco.”
Members of the committee are Alhaji Fatai Adesina ( chairman), Chief Sunday Yusuff, Abraham Onifade and Jamiu Erinfolami.
