A Federal High Court sitting in Calabar has ordered the Nigerian Police to vacate the secretariats of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria in Abuja and the Eastern zone.
The court also warned against arbitrary enforcement and described the occupation of the offices as illegal and an abuse of power.
In an originating summon filed by Daniel Mgbe, on behalf of the plaintiffs, including Sanusi Fari, Chidi Nnubia, Peter Okoye, and seven others, it was sought, among others, a declaration that the continued siege at IPMAN national secretariat by the police, and forceful removal of Sanusi Fari and his executives from legitimate offices as president and Executive members on July 5, 2021, as unlawful, unconstitutional and null and void.
The police had claimed to be acting on the instructions of the Attorney General of the Federation, Inspector General of Police, and Deputy Inspector General of Police.

Delta Government on Friday lashed out at Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over his governorship declaration speech, describing it as empty and uninspiring.
The government said Omo-Agege failed to tell Deltans and Nigerians what he intend to do differently despite having the programme on live television coverage.

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi has suspended the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr Martin Uguru, indefinitely for extortion of civil servants.
The suspension which took effect from April 1, 2022, is contained in a statement issued in Abakaliki on Friday by the Principal Secretary to the governor, Chief Emmanuel Obasi.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 32 suspects for kidnapping, killing, armed robbery, defilement and cultism.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released N3.5 billion as rebates for exporters of semi- and fully-processed non-oil commodities under the newly-created RT200 Non-oil Export Proceeds Repatriation Rebate Scheme.
At least 150 exporters will benefit from the rebate fund, which was approved at the Bankers’ Committee meeting concluded yesterday.
