1. Osun 2022: No crisis in Adeleke’s camp – Campaign organisation
The Campaign Organisation for the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship poll, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday, dismissed insinuations that the ex-federal lawmaker was considering withdrawing from the poll owing to a rumoured crisis in his camp.
A report circulated through social media had claimed that there was infighting within Adeleke’s camp which was making him to consider withdrawing from the race.
But a statement by the spokesperson for the campaign organisation, Rasheed Olawale, which described the report that Adeleke may quit the race as fake, also said the claim that infighting was creating internal turmoil within the campaign organisation was untrue.
Olawale assured Adeleke’s supporters that the report allegedly circulated by the APC agent had no substance as it was a mere concoction.
2. 11 injured, 302 houses, schools affected as windstorm hits Niger
Windstorm has destroyed properties worth millions of naira in Niger State.
The windstorm, which was said to have lasted for over two hours, occurred during the first rainfall witnessed by the residents of Kuta, Shiroro local government area of the State.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of Coalition of Shiroro Associations, Sailas Sabi, it was stated that the windstorm rendered many people homeless and others jobless.
Sabo said, “In the history of the town, there has never been such a disastrous windstorm which lasted for almost two hours, leaving many casualties and rendering many others homeless and jobless.”
3. Mbappe, Neymar score hat-tricks as PSG thrash Clermont 6-1
Kylian Mbappe and Neymar both scored hat-tricks as Paris Saint-Germain romped to a 6-1 thrashing of struggling Clermont on Saturday to move closer to winning Ligue 1.
Mbappe, who has still not decided whether he will stay at PSG beyond this season, scored twice and had three assists in last weekend’s 5-1 rout of Lorient.
He added another assist and won a penalty in this game as he moved to the top of the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 20 goals this season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now 15 points clear of second-placed Rennes and appear certain to regain the title with only seven games remaining.
4. Lawyer advocates public holiday for traditional worshippers
A human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has advocated public holiday for traditional worshippers across the country.
Falana stated that the traditionalists have constitutional provisions as other religions being practised in Nigeria.
The SAN disclosed this on Saturday during an orientation and inauguration programme of traditional worshipers under the aegis of ‘Ijo Babalawo Onifa of Egbaland’ held at the valley view Government House, Abeokuta.
Falana, who emphasised that traditional worshippers have the rights to a special day as public holiday, said, “Under the Nigerian constitution, particularly Section 38, there is freedom of religion of conscience.

5. Five feared dead, others maimed as criminal herdsmen attack Edo community
NOT less than five persons and several others were maimed as suspected criminal herdsmen attacked Odiguetue, an agrarian community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
A villager told journalists on Saturday that the attack and killing happened on Thursday and that members of the community have constituted themselves into vigilance groups to protect themselves.
It was gathered that the herdsmen, who had about a month ago, attacked security personnel in the locality and burnt down a patrol van, came back on Thursday morning to unleash mayhem on the locals, who for sometime had been resisting the headers from feeding their cows with the farm produce of the villagers.
6. Kaduna : Again, IGP patrols Abuja-Kaduna expressway
the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba continued his patrol along the ever-busy Abuja-Kaduna Expressway to assess the deployment of police personnel and the general security of the road and the entire Kaduna area.
The IGP, who graced the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the governor of Delta State, Mrs. Ewere Daniel Igo, at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, earlier on Saturday, 9th April 2022, immediately proceeded on patrol of the route and Kaduna area after the event.
The IGP also directed the police Airwing to Intensify and sustain the aerial patrol along the road and in Kaduna in general so as to provide air support to the ground troop and stimulate prompt intelligence gathering in the area.
7. FG pledges to provide palliatives to improve lives of Niger Deltans
The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has said that the construction of Iju Utility Centre (Phase 1 & 11) in Ondo State was the fulfilment of its statutory mandate to provide palliative toward achieving the goal of improving the quality of life of the people of the Niger Delta Region
Minister of State, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Donald Alasoadurahas stated this at the official commissioning of the Iju Utility Centre (Phase 1 &11), Iju, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
He explained that the project which started when l was a Senator eventually got domiciled in the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs where l serve as Minister of State, this has facilitated the rigorous pursuit of the completion of the project”.
8. 2023: Igbos in 19 northern states endorse Ngige for president
A meeting of traditional rulers of Igbo extraction, (Ndieze Igbo) in Diaspora and Igbo Delegate Assembly (IDA) comprising Igbos living in the 19 states of Northern Nigeria rose on Saturday in Abuja, with a unanimous resolution to support the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige for the 2023 presidential race.
They said Ngige should henceforth stop his consultations and join the race for the country’s topmost political office.
Recall that Ngige had said that he was consulting his friends and political associates across the country and that he would make his presidential ambition open after Easter.

9. Buhari in Abuja, not London, says presidency
The Presidency has debunked the rumour going around that President Muhammadu Buhari has embarked on another vacation to London in the United Kingdom.
Speculations were rife on Saturday that Buhari has embarked on another trip to London just a month after his two-week medical overseas trip.
But in a Tweet on Saturday, the Personal Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad, debunked the spreading rumour, saying that President Buhari was in Abuja and not planning any trip to London.
“The news going round that President Muhammadu Buhari has embarked on a 20-day vacation trip to London is FAKE. The President is in Abuja and he is not planning to embark on any trip to London,” Ahmad tweeted.
10. UPDATED: I consulted widely before declaring for Presidency – Amaechi
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has said he consulted widely before declaring his intention to contest the 2023 presidency.
Reading a letter titled: ‘Forward with courage’ at the Thanksgiving organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Amaechi said he was qualified to run.
He said he had been in governance for 23 years from being a Speaker for eight years to be a Governor and now Minister.
11. Nollywood actors, producer harp on well researched scripts to movies
Nollywood actors Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor is popularly known as Mama Gee and movie producer, James Oguejiofor have called for more researched scripts to further boost the development of the movie industry.
The filmmakers said this in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.
Kanayo told NAN that Nollywood had done well over the years, but needed to do more in terms of research on movie scripts.

Mr Steven Adesemoye, a media and communication expert, has refuted claims that Nigerian films are responsible for ritual killings.
Adesemoye told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos that the filmmakers were only inspired by events in the society.

13. 2023 Presidency: South East PDP chieftains shift battle to NEC
There are strong indications that political leaders of the Southeast region who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not relent in their quest to ensure that the party zones its presidential ticket to the region in 2023, despite the recommendation of the party’s Zoning Committee that the ticket be thrown open.
The Guardian gathered that a caucus meeting of the elders and leaders of the party was being planned with the intention of pushing the case of the zone at the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party with a unanimous voice, where the report of the Governor Samuel Ortom-led Zoning Committee would be discussed.
A former member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, told The Guardian yesterday that Igbo elders, comprising religious and traditional rulers, would meet next week to deliberate on some developments in the country vis-à-vis the zoning of the presidency.
14. CBN sensitises Nigerians on e-Naira, others
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has iterated the importance of intimating Nigerians on best banking practices, to catalyse the country’s economic development.
It also warned Nigerians against investing with Illegal Financial Operators (IFO), using unrealistic Returns on investment (RoIs) to lure unsuspecting members of the public.
CBN Director, Corporate Communications Department, Mr. Osita Nwanisobi, gave the admonishment yesterday during a public enlightenment campaign on its policies and interventions in Akure, Ondo State.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said he will not tolerate buck-passing in matters of security, if voted in as Nigeria’s president, but will ensure that governors secure their states.
While noting that the president could not be in every state of the federation ensuring security of life and property, he said states would be empowered to rise to the challenge.
While fielding questions from journalists at the 2nd GYB Seminar for Political and Crime Correspondents and Editors in Abuja, yesterday, Bello promised not to play politics with the security challenges in the country.
He said: “I refuse to politicise insecurity. Buhari is a man, who loves truth and reality. I will let you know that the president loves this country. This insecurity is not a thing of the president, though we should not pass buck because that is why we came on board. It is a failure of successive administrations.
