NFF To Receive $300,000 From CAF As COVID-19 Grant

Following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic in March across Africa, sports activities especially football has been disrupted but there is goodness for the football association in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation is expected will receive $300,000 as a grant from the Confederation of Africa Football to help ease the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic across the country.

This is coming a week after the announcement by FIFA to give a universal solidarity grant of $1m, with an additional $500,000 specifically for women’s football to all its members.

According to CAF, the fund is to help member associations to mitigate challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Each Member Associations will be entitled to $300, 000.”

“Normal eligibility, requirements, to access the funds has been waived due to the exigencies occasioned by the coronavirus,” CAF said in a statement.

Ekohotblog reported on Tuesday that CAF also postponed the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Cameroon next January to 2022.
