Social media personality and activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has revealed a major financial loss following a hacking incident targeting his NGO’s account.
In a video posted on Instagram on Friday, VeryDarkMan shared that over ₦180 million was stolen from the NGO’s account after hackers redirected the funds to an unknown account.
“I’ve not been myself these past few days,” he lamented. “Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.”

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Otse added that the affected account is currently under a Post No Debit (PND) status, with ₦20 million remaining while ₦160 million was diverted. He also disclosed plans to travel to Jos to facilitate the recovery of the stolen funds.
To prevent further breaches, Otse noted that the NGO’s mobile app had been temporarily shut down for maintenance. He assured followers that updates on the ongoing recovery efforts would be provided.
The hacking incident has drawn attention to the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, which VeryDarkMan launched in October.
The organization received widespread support, including over ₦35 million in donations within hours of its launch. Among its notable backers is renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, who contributed ₦100 million to the cause.
Otse’s video and further updates have sparked discussions about cybersecurity risks faced by NGOs and similar organizations.
