Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), has resigned from his position.
He submitted his resignation to President Bola Tinubu on Saturday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018, Abubakar is a retired career Foreign Service officer.
The reasons for his resignation remain unclear, and there has been no official statement from the presidency as of yet.
