NIDCOM Boss Dabiri-Erewa Lauds Youth-focused Diaspora Group

  • Doing Good Work in Africa (DOWA), is a non-profit initiative designed to connect students in the United States to African-based entities focused on providing scalable solutions to commonplace challenges.

Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has commended Doing Good Work In Africa (DOWA), a youth-focused NGO supporting students and impacting future growth in Africa.

This is contained in a statement signed by NIDCOM’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Abdur-Rahman Balogun congratulating the group on its first anniversary.

Doing Good Work in Africa (DOWA), is a non-profit initiative designed to connect students in the United States to African-based entities focused on providing scalable solutions to commonplace challenges.

Dabiri-Erewa described the thoughtful gesture of DOWA as a timely and critical tool for the development of Africa as a whole.

“Brain gain is a necessity for the development of Africa. This type of effort will go a long way in making tremendous impacts in the development of our youths in the diaspora”.

“For placing 27 students on internships and conducting several educational webinars with over 400 attendees from over 17 countries within a year of its establishment, your efforts is hereby  applauded,” she added.

The NiDCOM boss implored the coordinator of DOWA Mrs Ola Erogbogbo to sustain the good work while assuring them that the  Commission will continue to support them from time to time.

DOWA was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic by Ola Erogbogbo and Emiola Abass, along with a few friends ,who co-founded a program that generated 400 applications and placed 10 students at three partner companies within two months.
