Buhari also explained that he closed the nation’s land borders to promote the consumption of locally made goods.
However, his remarks were met with criticism from Afenifere and the Middle Belt Forum, who expressed their dissatisfaction with his leadership and stated that Nigerians would not miss him.
Buhari emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations with neighboring countries for national security.
He defended the border closure as a means to stimulate local agricultural production and create job opportunities.
The President acknowledged the vastness of Nigeria’s borders and stated that only God could effectively secure them from criminal activities.
Additionally, Buhari shared personal experiences, including the loss of his children to sickle cell anaemia, and explained his decision to appoint women as ministers of finance to deter corruption.
