Niger State Stadium On Lockdown As Armed Soldiers Prevent Tinubu Rally

  • Security operatives stormed the venue for the Tinubu rally to halt the planned event ahead of time in Niger State.

  • The operatives cite intelligence reports as the reason behind their action.

  • The report hints at propaganda in play to divert attention from the actual story.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Tinubu-Shettima pro-political rally that was marked to take place in the Niger State Township Stadium has been blocked by security operatives from both the Police and the Nigerian army.

The planned political rally at the New Bussa Township Stadium in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State was disrupted on Tuesday by security operatives.

The rally, organized by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, was meant to promote the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kassim Shettima.

The event was also set to support the APC governorship candidate in Niger State, Hon. Umar Bago, and his running mate, Comrade Yakubu Garba.

Journalists and supporters who arrived at the venue as early as 8.30 am were turned away by the security forces who barricaded the entrance to the stadium and locked the gates.

Two trucks of heavily armed Mobile Policemen and three pickup vans filled with armed soldiers of the Nigerian Army were seen stationed at the stadium, ensuring no one was able to enter.

According to an off-record statement by a police operative, the order to lock the stadium came from higher authorities. However, the Niger State Police spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, cited fears of a security breach based on credible intelligence as the reason for the event’s cancellation.
