The Super Eagles came from behind today to beat Cameroon, thereby booking a place in the quarter-final of the ongoing 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
The Super Eagles, trailing 2-1 at the end of the second half, scored two goals through China-based Odion Ighalo and Alex Iwobi to win the match in regulation time with a 3-2 scoreline.
Ighalo had put the Super Eagles ahead in the 19th minute before Cameroon, who came to Egypt as defending champions, didn’t just claw back but went ahead 2-1 in the last 5 minutes of the first half.
With the goals coming through Bahoken and N’jie, the Indomitable Lions were in the driving seat but that was until Nigeria conjured some magic through Ighalo and Iwobi to put the match beyond their neighbours.
