Nigeria Customs Elevates 1,419 Junior Officers to Boost Workforce
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has promoted 1,419 junior officers to new ranks in a major step towards strengthening its workforce. The decision was approved during the 10th management meeting led by the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
According to a statement by the National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, the promotions cover both General Duty and Support Staff officers who performed well in the 2024 promotion exercise.

A breakdown of the promotions shows that 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers were promoted from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC). Additionally, four General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC).
Further promotions included 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers moving up from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI), while 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers were elevated from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
CGC Adeniyi praised the promoted officers for their dedication and hard work. He encouraged them to keep working hard to fulfill the Customs Service’s key responsibilities, which include generating revenue, preventing smuggling, and supporting smooth trade activities.
