Nigeria Expresses Sympathy Over Deadly South Korea Plane Crash

Federal Government Expresses Sympathy for South Korea

Nigeria Offers Condolences

On Sunday, Ekohotblog reports that the Federal Government of Nigeria expressed its deep sympathy to the government and people of South Korea following the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216. The flight, which was returning from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed on December 29, 2024, while attempting to land at Muan International Airport in southern South Korea. The plane skidded off the runway, hit a wall, and exploded, resulting in a devastating loss of life.

The crash claimed 179 lives, leaving only two survivors among the 181 people on board. In response, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, released a statement conveying heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and to South Korea.

The statement read: “The Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to express sincere condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Korea for the unfortunate crash. We stand in solidarity with South Korea and the grieving families during this heartbreaking time.”
