Nigeria on Brink of Collapse – AVIDUSA
The United States Military Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVIDUSA) has warned that Nigeria risks a total collapse if it fails to return to the 1960/63 regional autonomy.
In a statement signed by its President, Sylvester Onyia, and Secretary, Dr. Godson Obiagwu, AVIDUSA said that restructuring Nigeria along the lines of the 1960-1963 Constitution is the only way to mitigate the country’s socio-economic and security problems.
The group recalled the 2017 meeting between Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, and South-East governors, where Kanu presented demands for regional development, including airport upgrades, river dredging, and industrial revival.
AVIDUSA noted that the late Prof. Ben Nwabueze suggested restructuring Nigeria along the lines of the 1960-1963 Constitution, which Kanu agreed to.
However, Kanu’s subsequent detention and the treatment of Biafran prisoners have raised concerns.
The group called for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and emphasized his commitment to human rights EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
AVIDUSA also acknowledged the establishment of the South-East Development Commission as a positive outcome of the agitation for change.
