Nigeria has recorded 288 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 5,445.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed this known on its website on Friday.
A breakdown of data obtained from the centre’s website showed that 140 COVID-19 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours, 4 new patients have been confirmed dead to the virus in the country, bringing the total number of deaths to 171.
In Kaduna, 20 new cases were recorded, 15 each in both Katsina and Jigawa, 13 in Borno, 11 in Ogun, eight in Kano, seven in the FCT, four each in Niger and Ekiti, three each in Oyo, Delta and Bauchi, two in Kwara and one in Edo.
Also, NCDC apologised for making errors in its announcement on Thursday.
It said, “On the 14th of May, four cases reported from Plateau and one case from Akwa Ibom, were repeat cases.
However in total, 5,445 cases have been confirmed, 3,959 are active cases, 1320 cases have been discharged and 171 deaths have been recorded in the country.
