EKO HOT BLOG reports that originally, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had announced a shift to Monday, June 2, citing logistical considerations and a joint agreement with the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). However, CAF did not approve the change, insisting the fixture stick to its initially sanctioned date.
Confirming the update via their official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, May 31, the Super Falcons stated, “Our friendly against Cameroon will now be held on Tuesday, June 3 at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta, following a late request from FECAFOOT.”
This match had already faced disruptions. A planned two-legged fixture was altered after the first leg, scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, was cancelled. The cancellation followed the late arrival of the Cameroonian squad, who only reached Nigeria late Friday night, making it impossible to fulfill pre-match requirements or allow proper recovery.
Despite attempts to reschedule the remaining tie for June 2, CAF stood its ground, forcing both teams to proceed on the original date of June 3.
The Cameroonian team is currently camped in Ijebu Ode, training ahead of Tuesday’s showdown.
This match will mark the Super Falcons’ first outing since their 1–0 friendly loss to France in November 2023, and is part of their build-up to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Cameroon, who failed to qualify for the upcoming WAFCON, still pose a familiar challenge. However, Nigeria holds a dominant head-to-head record, with Cameroon failing to score in their last six encounters and their last victory over the Falcons dating back to 2012.
