EKO HOT BLOG reports that Egypt captain, Mohamed Salah has acknowledged the “great pressure” from fans back home for the North African giants to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2022.
Egypt face Nigeria in Group D of the AFCON 2022 tournament on Tuesday evening at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, in Garoua, Cameroon. They last won the competition in 2010 and the Liverpool star has admitted he would be most delighted to take the coveted African cup home.
“We are not the favourites to win the Africa Cup of Nations, but we will do our best to reclaim the title,” Salah said during the pre-match press conference.
“I have not won a major championship with my country, and I would like to do that, and I hope that it will be this African Nations Cup.
“There is great pressure from the Egyptian public because we are the best in the continent in terms of achieving the title.
Kick-off time for the Nigeria vs Egypt match is 5PM West African time.
