Nigeria Vs Guinea Bissau: Ekweremadu Speaks On Upsets In AFCON 2022
EKO HOT BLOG reports that as the Super Eagles of Nigeria slug it out with Guinea Bissau on Wednesday evening, a former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has warned them not to be complacent, as “the upsets recorded in Cameroon so far clearly show that there are no longer any minnows in African football”.
In a post on his verified Facebook page today (Wednesday), Ekweremadu wished Nigeria well.

“Best wishes to the Nigeria Super Eagles as they file out against Guinea Bissau at the ongoing #AFCON2021 today.
“Although we’ve booked our #RoundOf16 place, we expect the #SuperEagles to stamp their authority, as the upsets recorded in #Cameroon so far clearly show that there are no longer any minnows in African football. Up Eagles,” Ekweremadu wrote.
Upsets In AFCON 2022
On Tuesday, the tiny archipelago nation of Comoros pulled off one of the all-time great African Cup of Nations (AFCON) upsets with a 3-2 Group C victory over Ghana, dumping the four-time champion out of the tournament in Cameroon.
Earlier, on Sunday, Equatorial Guinea ended defending champions Algeria’s four-year unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory.
Nigeria Vs Guinea Bissau
With two wins to their name already, the Super Eagles will be aiming to make it three wins from three matches when they face the ‘Wild Dogs’ at the Roumde Adjia Stadium, Garoua.
This is the first time Guinea-Bissau will be facing the Eagles at any AFCON tournament.
As it stands, Guinea-Bissau must beat the Eagles or kiss AFCON 2022 goodbye as they have just one point from their earlier two games.
Apart from the dedicated AFCON channels on SuperSport, which are available on DSTV and GOTV, the Super Eagles game is also shown on local stations like AIT and Afrosports TV. Kick off time is 8PM West African time.
