  • Nigeria Vs Tunisia: See Death Threats Sent To Super Eagles Player

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye received criticisms, insults, and even death threats following his inability to save Youssef Msakni’s shot that resulted in the deciding goal for the North Africans on Sunday.

Msakni’s goal proved enough to seal victory for Tunisia and send them through to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-finals.

Nigeria had been one of the tournament favourites and made light work of their group to reach the last-16.

But Augustine Eguavoen’s men struggled to break down Tunisia – nicknamed the Eagles of Carthage – at Roumde Adjia Stadium.

The final result left a lot of Nigerians disappointed, causing some social media users to go overboard.

See some caution messages to distasteful comments on Okoye’s social media page below:

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun wrote: “An extremely bitter defeat ends our title aspirations for #AFCON2021 That doesn’t change the fact that they’ve been a joy to watch. So please, don’t let negativity and bashing of players take over. Instead keep supporting them like you did before today!”

Broadcaster, Sarafina Napoleon wrote on Twitter: “Criticize him all you want but don’t threaten his life.”

Journalist, Collin Udoh wrote: “All of you idiots going over to Maduka Okoye’s IG with your sick, twisted, hate-filled comments really need to ask yourselves what you have ever done for your country. This young man has done more than you will ever do in your life and he hasn’t even started.”

He added: “Everyone needs to go on those sick comments on Maduka Okoye’s IG and report those idiots.”
