Nigeria Witnessing Worst Security Challenge In History – Gombe Governor
Inuwa Yahaya, governor of Gombe state, says Nigeria has never been ravaged by insecurity and criminal activities as it is now.
The governor said the country never had it this bad in terms of security, noting that the nation was witnessing its worst security challenge in history.
Ekohotblog understands that Yahaya made the remarks on Monday during the swearing in of chairmen of the 11 local government areas in the state.
There have been widespread incidents of kidnapping, banditry and insurgency across the country in recent months, a development that has led to renewed calls for the sacking of the service chief.
The governor charge the the newly elected officials to refrain from any activity that could see them enmeshed in corruption allegations
He admonished them to prioritise the security of lives, adding that adequate and necessary measures must be put in place to protect lives and properties of people.
“I call on the new chairmen to ensure that any measures taken are fully implemented and sustained in order to ensure the security and wellbeing of the lives and property of the people” He said
Yahaya tasked the chairmen to conceive realistic and workable ideas that will facilitate the development and transformation of their respective Local Governments.
He urged them to deploy their wealth of experience to hasten growth of Local Governments so as to ensure the people enjoy dividends of democracy.

Yahaya charged the official to make transparency and accountability their hallmark in the discharge of their duties, warning that his government will not condone any act of financial impropriety.
“Therefore, you must all strive to live above board and ensure transparency in the conduct of your duties. I charge you to be fair, equitable and just to all citizens irrespective of political or cultural differences. The relative peace and harmony that is prevailing in the state must be guarded jealously,” he said.
